I've just read an article on the Dutch site Emerce.nl which describes the growing British trend to sell undesired gifts on E-bay or other related sites. Each and every one of us apparently receives 1,5 unwanted gifts on average.

15% of the people in a recent survey among British citizens answered they would most certainly sell their unwanted gifts on E-bay, 35% is still considering whether or not this is a good idea.

A bit of caution is advised:  Your generous givers are not too happy with this 'passing on' of their precious gifts. Only 1,6% of the givers has absolutely no trouble with receivers selling their gifts on. 27,4% is slightly distressed by this and 71% (!) feels disappointed, irritated, angry or even hurt by this behavior.

In some cases you might want to store the gift and take it out of it's hiding place when the givers visit you
