World of Warcraft - Breaking the Addiction
Online Games
Written by Zyle

The radio station I listen to on the way to work does a daily advice piece, to help someone solve a dilema they are having.  It's usually a humourous little skit, offering advice to people who are faced with two women madly in love with them, or have a wonderful partner who is terrible in bed, and don't know how to broach the subject.  This morning however, a man emailed in about his World of Warcraft addiction.  He plays day and night, and when he isn't playing he thinks about it, and when he sleeps he dreams about it.  He knows he has a problem but doesn't know how to deal with it.  The presenters, obviously having never played an MMOG gave advice to the best of their abilities, and it was a funny piece no doubt, but I don't think the poor chap in question will really have got any help from it.

World of Warcraft: Xzin - The man with ten arms
Online Games

I've just read an absolutely great interview with a guy who goes by the nickname of Xzin in World of Warcraft. I don't play World of Warcraft myself, having played Ultima Online for a very long time, but the article still interested me greatly due to it's PvP nature.

I am a huge fan of MMORPG PvP, unfortunately Ultima Online got  incredibly boring and none of the recent expansions interested me in any single way, shape or form. I quit ages ago and made a tidy sum selling my character on E-bay. Anyway let's move on..

Now I have to admit I know very little about World of Warcraft and thus even less about it's PvP system. I promise that one day I might just try, just to see what the hype is about. Currently I don't really have the time and I'm in a large doubt what MMORPG to play next.. (Feel free to mail me suggestions.)  Still, what Xzin is doing just displays such a level of commitment and creativity that I think it is great. He probably gets flamed every hour and I can imagine how he gets reported to GMs every 2 minutes. (Been there, done that. You get reported just for winning nowadays in an MMORPG... People seem unable to accept defeat gracefully.)

The Kingdom of Loathing

As I had a bit of time today - and was completely knackered from Christmas shopping - I finally got around to checking The Kingdom of Loathing out, something I had bookmarked for quite a while now.

Initial experience is good, it looks like a silly waste of time, registration is a breeze and after less then a minute I was ready to adventure.

So what is The Kingdom of Loathing? According to the makers it is a "free, comical RPG". It is browser based, so no downloads or other stuff and I can confirm that it is at the moment indeed 100% free. I quote from the site: "KoL is played from the comfort of your browser, and is adorned with a staggering array of stunning hand-drawn images. It is turn-based, which means you get a certain number of turns (Adventures) each day."

Anyways - read on for the game and my experiences so far.

Neverwinter Nights 2: The Dark
Game Reviews
Written by Despair

Unlike other illustrious groups, such as game magazines and the like, I have only recently acquired Neverwinter Nights 2, and also don't have a life that revolves around gaming, so my look at NWN 2 is somewhat later. Also, I'm going to assume that you've read the reviews and don't want me to say the same things that they did, so I'm going to be discussing a few things and giving a few tips for running it that one might find in a typical article. Also, I'm going to give a disclaimer here that this review is based on my experiences, and on my computer, so I don't hold myself as the ultimate authority (or even necessarily objective). In fact, calling this article a review may even be straying a bit too far from the traditional notion, but that's up to you to decide.
