Lord of the Rings Online

I should be ashamed. I haven't given this site any attention for over 2 years. Oh well, that's life. So what's going on you wonder? (Actually you probably don't wonder that at all as you'll have randomly stumbled upon this blog/site and are probably looking for the quickest way out of this place.)

Anyway, since Nemo Nisi Mors disbanded in World of Warcraft, Ally and I have taken a break from online gaming and spent some time on our Xbox 360. We were briefly sucked into a browser game called Travian for 75% of a round and did very well indeed (top-20) but concluded something which we should have done long before that: Browser games are evil. (Despite most of us having met in one, but let us ignore that for a moment.)

Long story short, we can only resist temptation for so long and I started to look for a new MMORPG. In the end I decided to try Lord of the Rings Online, and joined a small casual guild called Tranquility . It only took a few weeks before Ally gave in as well and joined me on the Gilrain server. Quickly after that, Neill joined with his girlfriend Karo and since then we've pretty much got about 16 Nemo Nisi Mors members back together.

For those who care, here is the history of Nemo Nisi Mors, written by Neill, which hopefully explains why I care about this event. Cool

Nemo Nisi Mors: Origins & History

Planetarion

Some NNM members (Alratan, Abishai, Zyle, Nearu) met around 1999-2000 in Planetarion, in an alliance called The Collective, with Bearheart also playing the game.

Ultima Online

Nemo Nisi Mors under the current name was founded in 2002 in Ultima Online on the Europa shard (server) by Black Abishai (Peter) and Lysandra (Amanda). After several days of playing together, they came to the idea of forming a role-playing guild. The guild quickly grew once Zyle (Ally) and then Alratan (Neill) joined as well, especially when they ran into Rince in the Despise dungeon, saving her dragon Bunny. Rince was co-leader of another guild, Wolfpack, and shortly after meeting this guild merged into Nemo Nisi Mors. Rince became co-leader of Nemo Nisi Mors with Black Abishai and Lysandra, and the guild increased quickly in members and activity. Other notable members at this period included The Chosen One (Nearu), Blackspider (Killaklad), Garrison (Varencienne), Seeke and Crispen.

After playing in PvE and Roleplaying for awhile, we decided to check out Champion Spawns and Felucca for PvP, and most of us found that alot more fun, and we quickly established ourselves as a PvP guild there, fighting toe-to-toe with many of the older and more established guilds there. After awhile, we tired of the increasing zerg tactics of the then-dominant guild, Apple Invasion, who had verging on a hundred members all called Apple, compared to the 10-20 online counts of most other guilds. Moving to the Legends shard, we had a lot more luck with far smaller-scale PvP battles and less Zerg involved. Allying quickly with some acquaintances from Felucca Europa Legion (FEL), we continued PvPing and doing Champion Spawns for some time in this manner, until dwindling numbers and differences in playing ability caused us to split away, reforming as The Wolfpack (WPK).

In Wolfpack were far fewer members: Abishai, Alratan, Zyle, The Chosen One, Rince, Seeke and Gaz, but we were far more effective. At our peak, we were probably the best PvP guild around and fought along side and against the other top guilds such as e., H20 and K, despite being vastly outnumbered. Many memorable battles involved 5 of us holding our own against upwards of 20 people at once on a regular basis.

Eventually, like most good things, Ultima Online's good times started to dwindle when they released the Samurai Empire expansion which added unbalanced Samurai and Ninjas, and before they released Mondain's Legacy, introducing Elves, we decided to move on. We spent some time dabbling on free shards, and Abishai, Zyle, Alratan and The Chosen One even developed and ran one for nearly two years before eventually wearing it out.

World of Warcraft

While Bearheart and Rince had been playing for some time on Twisting Nether, Rince as an officer in a guild called iO, it wasn't until Myrkul (Abishai) and Succubus (Zyle) joined WoW in January 2007 that the guild really started to form. Levelling new characters (Kaets and Zylex) whilst Alratan and Garrison started characters, Nemo Nisi Mors was reborn. We slowly added members we encountered in PUGs and from recruitment, and progressed at a remarkable rate from beginning instances to Heroics and then to the first raid, Karazhan.

Not ready to more than double our members just yet - Karazhan was a 10-man raid and the next one, Gruul, was 25-man - we teamed up with a guild called Lost Souls for our first outings into larger activities. Not long afterwards, we finally had enough members to tackle it on our own and continued onto Magtheridon, Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep. Despite the large-scale recruitment, we added some truly fantastic people to the guild. At the time, our notable members were probably the following: Kaets/Vindicta (Abishai), Zylex (Zyle), Alratan/Shaleigh (Alratan), Wraeththu (Varencienne), Minikarlsson, Deci (Hiyori), Ythyn, Ammagad (Pewzi), Bearheart/Momar (Bearheart), Gantook, Garack (Yaza), Hunterbrave (Nearu), Kongfjong, Wortmar, Infektio, Yobax, Ocelot, Uthegental, Reise, Bighorn, Forweg, Dalthanar, Simbrah, Crushoof and many others.

Shortly before Wrath of the Lich King was to be released, however, most of our members had tired of the endless grind and were disappointed by the increasingly apparent revelation that the next expansion would entirely override all and any efforts that had been made in The Burning Crusade, and the guild steadily stopped playing. All in all, Nemo Nisi Mors was active in World of Warcraft from January 4th, 2007 until May 11th, 2008.

Lord of the Rings Online

Once again playing fore-runner, Abishai started playing LotRO on [EN] Gilrain and was followed soon afterwards by Zyle. Not expecting the rest of NNM to come rushing back, they joined Tranquility and forged friendships with them that still remain. A few weeks later, enough people had started playing LotRO that Nemo Nisi Mors was finally founded on [EN] Gilrain on July 19th, 2009.

What's going on at shadow1980.com?

As people who actually bother to check this site from time-to-time might have noticed, most of us seem to have vanished from here. You can blame the well-known MMORPG World of Warcraft for this fact as we are all playing this currently and let's suffice to say it is taking a fair chunk out of our spare time. (Spare time? What's that?)

In the rare occassion that someone might want to look us up, we are all playing on the European Twisting Nether realm, and we run a guild called Nemo Nisi Mors.

On top of this we are fairly busy keeping or World of Warcraft Guides site running and filled with fresh content from the latest WoW News to Guides on World of Warcraft Professions , Tactics to defeat Raid encounters and much more. I suggest you have a look, because let's face it: If you were reading this you had nothing better to do with your time anyway!
